Redbreast Small Batch Cask Strength Vs. Redbreast 12yr Cask Strength

Today we are looking at the newest release from Redbreast, and comparing it to the amazingly good 12yr CS that has been on the market for years. They are both aged in used Bourbon and Sherry casks, but the Small Batch lacks an age statement.

Fancy Glencairn respects age. They are both $90-$100, so let’s see which one is worth your hard-earned money!

FAE-01 is the 3rd in the Wood Finishing Series. These start with cask strength MM that is then finished in barrels containing the wood staves. Old Fitzgerald BiB 9yr Vs. Rebel Yell SiB 10yr

Larceny Barrel Proof Batch A120 Vs. A121

Here is another nerdy comparison for real whisky lovers where I compare two different batches of the same whisky all just to help you in your purchasing decisions… It’s a tough job, but I’ll sacrifice for you guys and gals!Larceny BP is a blend of 6-8yo barrels of Heaven Hill’s Wheated Mashbill (68% Corn, 20% Wheat, 12% Malted Barley - the same whiskey they use for Old Fitzgerald BiB).These are both around $50 SRP.

Old Ezra 7yr Vs. Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond 7yr

This was the first post ever on Whiskey Vs. Whiskey, and as I look back at my older posts I’m wanting to update them now that I’m doing more in-depth write-ups… Since Old Ezra is most likely sourced from Heaven Hill, these are actually probably the exact same distillate just at different proof points, and likely different barrel locations in the rickhouses. They should both retail in the $40-$45 price range.Fancy Glencairn cheated and read who the winner was last time, but lets see if I would still rather spend my money on the Lux Row option!

Union Horse Single Barrel Rye Vs. Rossville Union Rye

It’s the battle of the “Unions”!I wanted to put this bottle of Union Horse Rye single barrel up against a worthy opponent to help figure out just how good it is (or isn’t). I decided to match it up with another barrel proof rye that I’ve been pretty impressed with recently. Rossville Union is owned by MGP, is a blend of some of their best 5-6yo Rye barrels (both 51% and 95% rye mashbills). Union Horse Rye is a 100% rye mashbill.Fancy Glencairn likes that home-state Union Horse bottle. Let’s see if it can win against another excellent contender!

Chattanooga Whiskey 99 Rye Vs. Wheel Horse Rye

This comparison came about simply because I picked both of these ryes up on the same day, for similar prices, and was curious which one was the better buy!Wheel Horse Rye is the first product out of the newly re-opened O.Z. Tyler Distillery in Owensboro, KY, originally built in 1885.Chattanooga 99 is made with greater than 51% malted-rye, which is very unusual. That malting process for the rye should make this one very unique.Fancy Glencairn just likes that unique Chattanooga bottle, let’s see if her eye leads to a victory!

Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel Vs. Stagg Jr.

I’m really excited for this matchup of uncut, unfiltered, Buffalo Trace Mashbill #1 (Stagg Jr.) Vs. Mashbill #2(Blanton’s). For anyone who doesn’t know, Buffalo Trace produces 3 main bourbon mashbills from which it makes most of its portfolio. #1 is low rye, #2 is high rye, and the third is a wheated recipe (used for Weller and Pappy). As far as I know, Blanton’s SFTB is the only way to sample barrel proof Mashbill #2!Fancy Glencairn is choosing that fancy Blanton’s bottle. Let’s see how these compare!

Pappy Van Winkle 23yr Vs. Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 17yr BiB

This was the winning matchup in my poll of what to put Pappy 23 up against, and I think it’s actually a very good matchup. These are both old and oaky, both similar proof, and both pricey. Of course, only one has had ridiculous hype and insane secondary prices behind it… Fancy Glencairn has bought into the hype, let’s see if the elder Pappy lives up to it!

Starlight Huber’s Rickhouse Select SiB Bourbon Vs. Wild Turkey Rare Breed

I really like this Starlight @gateway_city_whiskey_society pick , and I immediately thought about pitting it against another very solid-value, high-proof bourbon in the $50 price range.
