Old Ezra 7yr Vs. Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 7yr

“Old Ezra 7yr” Vs “Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond 7yr”: Both should be able to be found in the $35-45 price range.

1) Heaven Hill: very nice for the price. Initial spice quickly moves into oak, caramel, pecan, and vanilla. Somewhat long finish that is sweet with a little spice. Very enjoyable neat with a couple drops of mineral water to open it up.

2) Old Ezra: another great contender for the price range. This one starts out with more heat (it’s a barrel-proof), that moves into flavors of oak, vanilla, and dark fruits like cherry and figs. Maybe a little anise in there as well. The finish is somewhat hot with spice and oak sweetness. Most enjoyable with 1-2mL of water to cut the proof.

Winner) Old Ezra 7yr
These are both very enjoyable, and in reality for the price I would pick up both if I saw them on the shelf. However, if I have to choose, for me the Old Ezra wins due to the higher proof, and more complex flavors. Plus, that is a pretty nice looking bottle on your shelf!
